GARY COGILL
We are honored to have Television personality and film critic Gary Cogill of WFAA-TV and Film Historian Gordon Smith hosting the BRIDE of IT CAME FROM DALLAS.
He is a three-time Katie Award winner and has worked in the Channel 8 news department for more than 16 years. Gary is also a consistent contributor to Good Morning Texas as well as Texas Cable News. His work has appeared in numerous television markets around the United States, and Gary has appeared on the cable movie channel American Movie Classics.
Gary is also a popular voice actor, providing hundreds of voices for radio and TV commercials. His clients have included McDonalds, Coca-Cola and American Airlines. "I do a mean Kermit The Frog," Gary said. During the 1980's, Gary wrote, produced and directed hundreds of TV commercials while writing advertising copy, short films and documentaries.
Gary was born in Portland a child of the 1950's and 1960's, and he continues to be a lover of all things outdoors. He is a devoted trout fisherman, a White Rock lake jogger, a theatergoers, concertgoer, and is passionate about cooking and baseball.
GORDON K. SMITH
(a.k.a. "Mr. Weird", the producer/host of DCTV's "Weird Theatre"), is an award-winning Dallas-based writer, filmmaker, film historian and actor. Born in Houston, he is a graduate of Texas Tech University and was one of the very first employees of Blockbuster Video (for whom he wrote thousands of VHS box blurbs ).
Smith has appeared in bit parts in over 35 movies and TV episodes (including The Alamo and "Walker Texas Ranger"). In 1989 his research work led to the revival of the near-lost cult classic Carnival of Souls, for which he was interviewed on National Public Radio the following year. Recently, he was the researcher for the AMC Channel series "Movies 101", produced special video tributes for the AFI-Dallas and Fort Lauderdale Film Festivals, and co-hosted, with WFAA's Gary Cogill, "It Came From Dallas", an annual salute to pioneer Dallas filmmakers.
